KENDO BOLTON
Shouting or Kiai (key-aye) is used as a method of controlling your breathing, to indicate a scoring cut and to intimidate your opponent (as well as a host of other things that you will learn about).
As a beginner we don't expect you to scream the house down, but don't be surprised if we ask you to shout out target names as you hit them.
